Bad Weekend for Buffalo

November 10, 2008

buffalo-sabres

The Bills and Sabres lost to the Massholes of Boston and New England. There’s nothing I hate more than the city of Boston, and to have both teams lose on the road makes me sick. Exit question: what the fuck is going on with the Bills?

Dear Mr. Brandon, please bring DeAngelo Hall to Buffalo.

(NFL) - Oakland captured the NFL’s attention when it fired Lane Kiffin and hired Tom Cable. Now it is about to do it again — in a far more stunning fashion.

The Raiders are on the verge of releasing Pro Bowl cornerback DeAngelo Hall on Wednesday, according to multiple NFL sources.

If they do — and the team was planning on doing it Tuesday before it held off — Oakland will have paid Hall $8 million for eight games and Atlanta a second-round pick for the cornerback’s services.

Oakland is planning to waive him now so as to avoid paying Hall the $16 million worth of injury-guaranteed bonuses in his contract. It is too much of a risk for a Raiders team that still needs to do more rebuilding.

If Oakland follows through, Hall would be placed on waivers, leaving playoff contenders with the question of whether they should put in a claim for him. If Hall goes unclaimed, he would be free to sign with any team.

Last off-season, when the Falcons shopped Hall, the teams most interested in the cornerback were the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants and Washington Redskins. The New England Patriots also have been in search of cornerback help.

Any one of those teams could put in a waiver claim for Hall, but it would be obligated to pick up his contract. If no one claims Hall, he could sign with the team of his choosing.

Do Not, I repeat DO NOT, sleep on this opportunity to have a shut down corner, added to our horrible secondary. DeAngelo Hall would be a great addition to the team, why not add him? If they are going to make a serious push toward the playoffs, they need to do something about that secondary, especially if they are going to go up against the likes of Randy Moss and Teddy Ginn Jr. The guys that are back there right now are horrible at best. We lost out on Tony Gonzalez, now we loose out on DeAngelo Hall. Say goodbye to the playoffs again this year. On a side note, news flash to James Hardy, Marshawn Lynch and Leodis McKelvin step your damn game up, cause right now Manley could step in and do a better job.

Wow

October 27, 2008

Hey Terrence McGee, I think Ted Ginn Jr. just caught another ball on you. Word of advice, if you can’t run don’t go on the field. I like you but you killed us yesterday.

Oh and Jason Peters, why don’t you try and block someone?

Bills Approaching Critical Stretch

October 20, 2008

Over the course of the next three weeks, the Bills will face every opponent in their division (@ Dolphins, Jets, @ Patriots). This stretch is crucial. If the Bills can make it through those three weeks at least 2-1, then they will be sitting pretty in the AFC East with a comfortable lead. With the losses of Miami and NY this weekend (and hopefully a New England loss tonight), the Bills couldn’t be in a better position.

I smell playoffs…

5-1.

Boom.

Kawika Mitchell is a f*ckin G. Way to seal the game…bring on the Dolphins.

Gonzalez Refused Buffalo

October 16, 2008

Bills Make a Deal…

October 14, 2008

…but not for Tony Gonzalez. I was browsing around profootballtalk.com and saw that the Bills shipped defensive tackle John McCargo to the Colts for an unknown compensation. Exciting. McCargo likely netted them a mid to late round draft pick next year. I wonder what the issue was with Gonzalez and why they didn’t make a deal. My guess is that they felt giving up two draft picks for a position that they just addressed with Derek Fine in the ‘08 Draft was not worth it. Typical Buffalo Bills.

Cue the “Bills to Toronto” Talks

October 14, 2008

Forbes just released it’s “10 Sports Franchises Most Likely To Move” list, and I’ll give you one guess as to who is on there.

Will The Bills Pull the Trigger?

October 14, 2008

There will be an answer by 4:00 either way. Gonzalez has been adament about being traded to a contender and prefers the Giants, but the Giants haven’t shown enough interest that would move a deal along. The Eagles and Bucs have also been rumored in the trade talks, but I think the Bills can make something happen. They would be stupid not to. Buffalo hasn’t had a productive tight end in years, and here’s a sure-fire Hall of Famer at the price of a draft pick or two. Make it happen.

Edwards Back to Work, Norv, be scared.

October 13, 2008

(Buffalo News) — Quarterback Trent Edwards is back at practice today as the Bills return to work after the long bye week.

Edwards missed two workouts last week due to a concussion suffered on the third play of the game against Arizona on Oct. 5.

Also returning to practice were receiver Roscoe Parrish (thumb) and defensive tackle John McCargo (family reasons). Terrence McGee (knee) and Aaron Schobel (foot) were not working.

Strike up One Bills Drive, for nice little Sunday. Trent is back, and Roscoe, if, and I mean if, by some great act of God (God, if you can hear me, please make this come true), Tony Gonzalez joins us this week. Norv Turner, has a lot to be scared about. Ralph, time to make it rain…again.

Tony Gonzalez to Buffalo!?

October 13, 2008

(Buffalo News) — Tony Gonzalez is available? The future Hall of Fame tight end has requested a trade? This is too good to be true because what the Buffalo offense needs more than anything, save a healthy Trent Edwards, is another significant threat in its receiving corps. Add Gonzalez to the mix and the Bills go from a team that’s evolving to one that’s resolving. Install Gonzalez at tight end and for the first time in what seems like forever it’s realistic to dream the big dream.

Hello, Ralph? Answer the door. Opportunity hasn’t knocked this hard since Indianapolis was shopping Cornelius Bennett.

This isn’t happening or is it? This could be the perfect fit, happening at the perfect time for the Bills. Ralph, Russ, do you hear this? The PERFECT piece for the Bills, the PERFECT piece to get the Bills to the Playoffs. Do not let this one slip, by. It’s like some real hot chic walking past you, saying, “hey big boy, you can have all of this jelly, all you have to do is ask.” This option is a reality, let’s just hope the Bills aren’t the guy that says, “naw I’m good, I can’t handle all of that.”
