NBA to Fine “Floppers”

ESPNThe NBA announced to its teams this week at its annual pre-draft camp that fines will be imposed on players starting next season for clear cases of “flopping,” ESPN.com has learned.

The league office has yet to determine exact fine amounts for offending flops and how fines might escalate for repeat offenders, but in-game arena observers and video reviewers will be instructed to report instances of theatrical flopping for potential punishment as part of postgame reports on officiating and other matters.

Interesting rule. Maybe they should enforce this kind of crap at the college level. Since players can’t be fined at the college level, maybe they’ll be suspended a game for X amount of flops. I know Mr. Ellaeh’s Dukies would be screwed if that were a rule at the college level. Odds are Duke would miss the NCAA Tournament every year because their entire team would be suspended for excessive flopping. At the very least, any Duke player that moves on to the next level will certainly set a record for most $’s paid for flopping. Pure genius.
