(Buffalo News) – The Buffalo Bills will be paid an average of $9.75 million a game from their new Toronto business partners, financial statements released in Canada revealed Tuesday. The Bills’ eight games in Canada over the next five years will earn the National Football League team a total of $78 million, Rogers Communications stated in its quarterly report. It was the first time the cost of the deal was made public. The gross revenue is roughly double what the Bills garner in gross revenues for a home game at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park.Shit. Doesn’t look good for the Bills staying in Buffalo, especially when they are getting paid far beyond what they could ever make in Buffalo, I am already bracing myself. Ralph isn’t going to be around forever, so Jimbo start getting your stuff together if your really serious about keeping the Bills in Buffalo, if not and the Bills eventually leave, it’s going to be a dark day in Buffalo.
But until then a moment from the good ol’ days…

How can the Bills be having money troubles? It is impossible in the NFL with the TV contracts.

I honestly don’t know the extent of their finances, but I think you have to look at the bigger picture: All signs point to the NFL wanting to go global. Regular season games in London, and now games in Toronto.
They aren’t looking to add a new team as much as they’re looking to move a team. I think the talk of moving a team to L.A. died down, so this looks like the next big push for relocating a team to a bigger market. It makes sense. Buffalo is 90 minutes from Toronto, so if they move the team they’ll still have the NY fan base, plus they’ll draw millions in the Canadian market. As much as I don’t want to see it, the odds of it happening seem to be increasing.
